About Flying Colours HR

The company was created in December 2012, and was known as Flying Colours Interviews initially, when Jenny Robertson decided that having provided an informal CV and interview coaching service to friends and colleagues, it made sense to formalise the service and the business was born.  Jenny had been recruiting for 18 years in a range of sectors both as an in-house recruiter in companies and had worked in the agency recruitment sector too.  She therefore, had practical, ‘real life’ experience of what employers are looking for and how to get that employer to want to interview you based on your CV and how to present yourself in an interview to secure that job.

This experience Jenny had learnt over the years is also used to provide outplacement advice and job market support to employees who are being made redundant from companies.

In addition, it was recognised that the extensive experience in recruiting and selection could be utilised to support businesses to effectively recruit the right staff, whilst also ensuring that individual clients receive up-to-date advice on the interview process.

As Jenny had also been working in Human Resources as a Generalist HR Advisor and HR Business Partner for a number of years, she widened the service to include HR Consulting, which she is passionate about ensuring that the advice is aligned with businesses’ visions and goals and ensuring HR integrity and best practice in accordance with the CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) of which she is a Member.  The company was  renamed Flying Colours HR to reflect the wider services available to both companies and individuals.

Aberdeen interview advice

Flying Colours was decided as part of the the name for the business as it’s an uplifting and victorious name. In addition, the term ‘with Flying Colours’  also comes from military naval history when a ship’s appearance upon immediate return to port would communicate how the crew fared at sea; if a ship was victorious, it would sail into port with its flags flying from the mast heads.

The logo features a flying red kite (bird of prey) as these birds were rare in the UK, and are now being bred locally at Argaty Red Kites.  Jenny, the owner of Flying Colours HR has an interest in birds of prey too.
